Why Emory EM?
Emory Emergency Medicine really stood out to me as I aimed to train at an academic and county institution that included a safety net hospital. Previously working in emergency medical services (EMS) in an underserved area, I gained a better understanding of the social determinants of health that impact our patients, and training at Emory would allow me to care for a diverse patient population while serving and helping vulnerable populations. I also wanted to train in an urban area to work with and learn from their EMS systems. Finally, I was drawn to Emory's mentorship, leadership, and research opportunities. What really sold me was seeing how well the residents interacted with each other and us candidates on the pre-interview and interview days.
