Emory Emergency Medicine Scholarship and Innovation Pathway
The Emory Emergency Medicine Residency's Scholarship and Innovation Pathway started in July of 2025. The pathway combines flexibility and mentorship with a research fellowship opportunity to support and develop rising stars in EM research and discovery. This is a unique opportunity to train at a county safety-net hospital with a strong mission of service while also developing as a researcher and innovator within Emergency Medicine.
Up to two scholars per year will matriculate into the EM residency alongside their peers.
- During the first year, scholars will identify a mentor and begin development of their project
- During years two and three, scholars will have the option to flex their schedule, working clinically during selective rotations in order to have a reduced clinical load on Grady, EUH, and EUHM emergency medicine rotations. This can help facilitate a more longitudinal approach to scholarship than can be afforded in the traditional schedule
Along the way, scholars will be mentored by research faculty in the Department and supported with increased funds for travel to scientific meetings (two per year) and a laptop with relevant software. Statistical and analytic support is also readily available.
At the conclusion of residency, residents who have successfully completed the requirements of the program will be offered admission to our Department’s research fellowship to further focus on developing a successful research career.
