Our partnerships give us strength, and they are one of the reasons we’re uniquely positioned to address today’s most pressing health challenges. The connections we make with other academic institutions, research organizations, clinical care centers in Atlanta, and government agencies like the CDC help us pool our resources and create opportunities that we could not achieve on our own.

What we’re doing
- Strengthening all Emory at Grady research, investing in programs of excellence, establishing a Center for Health Equity and Justice Research and enhancing the current physical Emory at Grady structures.
- Exploring seed funding that’s tied to this strategic plan initiative to enhance collaborations
- Considering new electives and degree programs that cross institutions
- Committing $25,000 for Georgia Tech biomedical engineering students to become credentialed to eliminate costly barriers to collaborations with SOM faculty
- In one of our biggest wins of 2020, a collaborative $31 million NIH grant was awarded to Emory, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Georgia Tech to support the rapid transformation of innovative technologies into widely accessible COVID-19 diagnostic testing. This is the largest single NIH award received by Emory in a single year.
- SOM, WHSC, and Children's continue to enhance strategic alignment and build support for the first-ever joint research strategic growth plan. The plan includes recruitment of 30 research-intensive faculty focused on Child Health and has received $90 million grant support from the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation.
- Facilitated by the generous support of John and Rosemary Brown we now have funding support to accelerate opportunities to create valuable juxtapositions between Emory and Georgia Tech faculty, students, trainees, and staff, in both research and educational programs.
