Strategic planning efforts officially begin to reimagine the future of medical education at Emory.

The vision and goals for our next phase of strategic planning, which is focused on medical education, were developed and vetted. You may hear us refer to our education strategic planning effort as IRIS: Inspire, Reimagine, Innovate and Serve.
Summer 2019
We finalized actions for year one and designated initiative sponsors and teams to carry them out. Resourcing discussions continue.
March 2019
Dean Sukhatme shared values, goals and strategies during his annual State of the School of Medicine address on March 5.

Leadership discussed resources to support our strategic efforts.
January 2019
Senior leadership visioning exercises and planning continue with a focus on research prioritization, metrics and resourcing.
October 2018
Department chairs and senior leadership review initiatives and ideas gathered during the brainstorming sessions and set priorities.
September 2018
180+ research faculty, 110 education thought leaders, and other key stakeholders came together for targeted brainstorming under the themes and innovation drivers.

Knowing that our people are at the center of the journey to eminence, we conducted our first school-wide survey to assess engagement and well-being.

Planning activities kicked off with a leadership retreat, extensive idea-gathering, identifying a steering committee and stakeholders and benchmarking of the internal, local and national innovation landscapes. We also documented our shared values.
