Why Emory EM?
The mission of Grady and the program as a whole was completely unique on the interview trail. While many hospitals care for underserved patients, I didn't encounter any where the mission to help the underserved was so strongly embodied by the residents, faculty, and hospital leadership. The opportunity to learn from and work with like-minded people who care so much about societal problems addressed in emergency medicine was my primary motivation for picking Emory EM. Additionally, during my rotation here I simultaneously felt like I was making a small difference for patients while learning so much from them about their barriers to healthcare access, and learning from these patients as I pursue policy change is a priority for me.
