Mission
Promote awareness and education in the WEDI topics and how they influence the culture of medicine and the emergency medicine residency training environment through the promotion of mentorship, academic opportunity and scholarly activity.
Goals
- To obtain additional knowledge in the areas of: physician wellness, bias, diversity, racism/anti-racism, equity, and inclusion
- To allow residents the opportunity to develop a niche in the areas of wellness, equity, diversity, and inclusion
- To improve research skills and provide mentorship over a scholarly project in WEDI
- To engage in the academic community through involvement of a national committee or society
Education
Residents will participate in a longitudinal track curriculum through quarterly track meetings, mini-journal club, and other didactics.
Scholarship
Participants will be required to produce one scholarly project of publishable quality based on their WEDI Pathway work. This may come in the form of :
- Conference abstract submission
- Quality improvement project
- Peer-reviewed journal submission
- Or, other robust project to be approved by the pathway leader
Additionally, participants will be encouraged to participate in the CORD Mini-Wellness Fellowship Program.
Mentorship
Participants are paired with a faculty member with similar interests to gain further insight and advice about creating a career niche in the areas of WEDI.
