The interview is a mandatory part of the application process. An application must be completed before an individual will be considered for an interview. Interviews are by invitation only. All candidates selected to interview must interview in person. Emory does not conduct individual, telephone, or weekend interview sessions. Candidates selected for an interview will receive electronic notifications and instructions.
If selected for an interview, candidates are required to be present at the date and time of the interview.
The Program Office will provide information about scheduling procedures, location, parking, and lodging at the time the interview invitation is extended. It is important that the Program Office have an applicant's current telephone number and email address so that individuals can be contacted in a timely manner about any last-minute modifications.
After all selected candidates have completed the interview process, the admissions committee will extend offers of admission to those candidates who best qualify for the program. A complete and individualized process is used when considering candidates. Candidates will be notified via email of the program’s decision regarding admission.
Admission to the Master of Science in Anesthesia program is based on a combination of academic performance and demonstration of other non-cognitive characteristics including professionalism including reliability and accountability; honesty and integrity; compassion and respect; maturity including tolerance of anxiety and stress management; leadership; motivation for providing health care; and co-curricular and work experience.
Selected Candidates - If you are interviewed and chosen to be admitted to the program you will need to complete the following requirements:
- Remit an acceptance and tuition fee at the instructed time (dates will shared on the admissions calendar)
- Provide documentation for required immunizations, titers, and health information required by agencies for clinical placement. All requirements must be current at all times.
- Have financial needs in place.
- Complete your academic programs and pending prerequisite courses prior to the program start date if you have not already done so.
Waitlisted Candidates - There could be a wait pool of up to 25 additional applicants (this list will remain active two weeks after the program start date). Should a selected candidate decline our offer, a student on the wait pool will be offered the slot (at that point, all items from the Selected Candidate list will apply). A waitlisted student who is not selected for the cohort for which they interviewed will be required to reapply. Being in the wait pool does not guarantee admission for the subsequent year. Applicants will be limited to two interviews with the Emory Program.
Candidates Not Selected - Due to the highly competitive process of selecting applicants for admission, an interviewee may not be accepted for admission. An additional year of preparation, revisiting exams for desired scores and possibly taking additional course work prior to the formal admission cycle may make a significant difference. Applicants will be limited to two interviews with the Emory Program.
