2026 Sickle Cell Disease Research Day - Connecting Patients, Families, and Researchers
We are inviting adult patients with sickle cell disease to join us for a day dedicated to education, empowerment and advancements in adult sickle cell research.

- Steiner Auditorium (located across the street from Grady ER), Atlanta, Georgia

What to Expect

Join us for an engaging and informative event featuring keynote speaker Dr. Wally Smith, Florence Neal Cooper Smith Professor of Sickle Cell Disease at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).

Breakfast will be available starting at 8:30 AM, and the event will begin at 9:00 AM.

The morning will consist of an introduction by our own sickle cell provider, Dr. Morgan McLemore, a research myth-busting session by the research team, and the keynote address by Dr. Wally Smith

Lunch will be provided at 11:30 AM, and posters about different sickle cell research projects will be available for viewing during the lunch period

The afternoon will include the following breakout sessions:

1:00 - 1:45 PM - Patient Reported Outcome Studies & Drug Development

1:45 - 2:30 PM - Latest in Transfusion Therapy & Don't Forget About Me, SC

The event will conclude with a community panel from 2:30 - 3:00 PM where patients who have either previously been in research studies or are currently participating in research studies will be available to discuss their experiences with research as well as answer any questions from the audience
