The Emory/Children’s Laboratory is supported by the School of Medicine and Industry partners in the pursuit of cutting edge healthcare technologies. We serve as a reference laboratory in support of clinical trials for industry partners, as well as assist investigators with processing and biobanking of prospective or remnant clinical specimens. Some of our offerings include MALDI-TOF monoclonal gammopathy testing; BioFire, Cobas and Cepheid molecular platforms; Short turnaround ADAMTS-13 Activity, Inhibitor and Antibody screening; and customized LDT development services.
Our team is nimble, agile, and accustomed to quick turnaround as a CLIA-certified laboratory delivering standard-of-care results.

Lab Director
John D. Roback, MD, PhD
John D. Roback, MD, PhD is currently Professor and Executive Vice-Chair for Clinical Operations in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in the Emory University School of Medicine. He is also Medical Director for Emory Medical Laboratories. Dr. Roback received his undergraduate degree from the Johns Hopkins University, and his MD and PhD degrees from the University of Chicago. Dr. Roback’s clinical work is in the areas of transfusion medicine, cell therapies, and hemapheresis. His research interests include understanding the metabolic changes that occur during RBC storage prior to transfusion, and developing novel transfusion products. His research investigations have been generously supported by NIH, other governmental agencies including the Department of Defense, as well as private foundations such as the National Blood Foundation.
