Mahmoud Abdou
Overview
Dr. Mahmoud Abdou received his medical degree from Benghazi University School of Medicine in Benghazi, Libya. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, then completed an additional fellowship in Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology and Echocardiography.
He is a member of the distinguished faculty of the Center for Advanced Heart Failure and Transplantation and sees patients at Emory University Hospital, Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital and Emory John's Creek Hospital.
He holds professional memberships in the American College of Cardiology, Heart Failure Society of America, International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation and European Cardiac Society.
Dr. Abdou's clinical interests includes Left-Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) therapy, Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) and management of cardiogenic shock, and heart transplantation, with special interests in pulmonary hypertension and innovation in heart failure monitoring and treatments.
Additionally, he is involved in medical education of residents and fellows training at the Emory University School of Medicine, and has received numerous teaching awards during his training and as faculty as well.
