Emory University Hospital System is the largest academic tertiary care center in the Southeast. Our Advanced Cardiac Imaging Fellowship is a one-year training program in cardiac magnetic resonance and cardiac computed tomography. The volume of studies in CMR/CCT spans the entire spectrum of cardiovascular disease including advanced heart failure, congenital heart disease, structural/coronary intervention, and general cardiovascular studies. Advanced cardiovascular imaging continues to play a dominant role in the management of cardiovascular patients at this institution.
Fellowship trainees interact directly with patients and review existing data to accurately protocol each exam as well as learn to perform examinations/interpret results. With each imaging modality, the appropriate relevant knowledge of physics will be obtained. Applicants are required to have successfully completed an ACGME-certified postdoctoral training program in cardiovascular medicine. Level II competency in at least one area of cardiovascular imaging is also required (echo, nuclear, cardiovascular CT, or CMR). Fellows will be selected based upon their academic credentials, past performance, and potential.
Advanced imaging fellowships at Emory and other institutions are unaccredited (non-ACGME) programs. As such, advanced imaging fellows are appointed as clinical instructors at Emory Healthcare. This mandates a two-year, 25-mile non-compete clause active upon completion of the fellowship.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be an MD or DO
- Completion of a three-year, ACGME-accredited cardiology fellowship program by the time of entry
