Overview
The one-year Emory Minimally Invasive Colorectal Surgery Fellowship is a non-ACGME program offered by the Division of Colorectal Surgery. The fellowship's primary objectives are to teach competent general surgeons the specialized diagnosis and minimally invasive surgical management of diseases and disorders of the colon, rectum, and anus, and expose them to the principles of surgical outcomes research.
Fellows will gain experience in a broad range of colon and rectal practices and diseases at different campuses across Emory, learn robotic and laparoscopic colorectal surgery techniques, and engage in research under the leadership of Glen Balch, MD. Fellows will perform as both operating surgeon and teaching assistant. The year will be split between clinical and scholarly activities, with approximately 50% of their time dedicated to research efforts. Fellows will be required to submit at least two abstracts to surgical meetings and two manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed journals. This is a fully funded position and this includes funds for travel to academic surgical meetings.
Fellowships start in August of each year.
