  • ≥0.5 full-time equivalent in an ambulatory setting
  • For a duration commensurate with the total award amount (1 award = 2 years of service; 2 awards = 3 years of service; 3 awards = 4 years of service; 4 awards = 5 years of service)

Requirements

You are eligible for an award if you satisfy all five requirements:

Requirement 1: Early in your medical career

To meet this requirement, you must satisfy at least one of the following:

You…

  1. are a current medical student,
  2. are a current resident, or
  3. completed residency or Geriatrics fellowship ≤ to 5 years ago

Requirement 2: Affiliated with Emory University School of Medicine

To meet this requirement, you must satisfy at least one of the following:

You…

  1. graduated (will graduate) from Emory with an MD,
  2. completed (are completing) a Geriatrics fellowship at Emory
  3. completed (are completing) a residency program at Emory

Requirement 3: Trained (will train) in primary care

To meet this requirement, you must satisfy at least one of the following:

Your residency was (is) (will be) in:

  1. internal medicine,
  2. family medicine,
  3. pediatrics, or
  4. geriatrics*

Requirement 4: Practicing (will practice) primary care in Georgia

To meet this requirement, you must satisfy ALL of the following

You are or will…

  1. practice greater than or equal to 0.5 FTE in an ambulatory setting
  2. for a duration commensurate with your award amount (link to explain)
  3. Meet the HRSA definition of primary care services
    1. addressing a large majority of personal health care needs,
    2. developing a sustained partnership with patients, and
    3. practicing in the context of family and community.
  4. Meet the HRSA definition of primary care settings

EXCLUDES:

  1. Emergency departments
  2. Inpatient hospital settings
  3. Ambulatory surgical centers
  4. Independent diagnostic testing facilities
  5. Skilled nursing facilities
  6. Inpatient rehabilitation facilities
  7. Hospices

Requirement 5: Financial Need

To meet this requirement, you must satisfy one of the following

You have or will have…

  1. Insufficient grants/scholarships to cover tuition, as the Financial Aid Office can attest;
  2. Private or federal loans from medical or undergraduate education; or
  3. Personal or familial obligations for repayment, as demonstrated by written agreements or ParentPLUS loans.

*Your residency was (is) (will be) consistent with practicing as a Geriatrician and/or completing a Geriatrics Fellowship
