Why Emory EM?
Choosing Emory for my emergency medicine residency was a decision deeply influenced by my experience as a paramedic in the Atlanta area. I sought an exceptional academic and county institution that encompassed a safety net hospital, allowing me to address the complex social determinants of health affecting our patients. With Grady, Emory's program truly stood out, offering a richly diverse patient population and a chance to serve and support vulnerable communities. The allure of training in an urban setting, alongside well-established EMS systems (still a particular interest) seemed like the best place for me to learn and grow as an EM doc. Additionally, Emory offers many opportunities for mentorship, leadership development, and research opportunities aligned with my career aspirations. Ultimately, what cemented my decision was witnessing the genuine synergy and camaraderie among the residents, along with a sense that the faculty are enthusiastic teachers and care deeply for the community. I was convinced Emory created a residency environment that felt like the ideal professional and personal fit for my journey.
