Description
The Distinguished Clinician Award recognizes a faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences who has demonstrated excellence in clinical care.
Each year we will give up to three awards:
- Distinguished Clinician Award: Atlanta VA Healthcare System
- Distinguished Clinician Award: Emory Healthcare
- Distinguished Clinician Award: Grady Health System
Eligibility
Part-time or full-time faculty at any rank within the Emory University Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences who spend the majority (>50%) of their professional effort engaged in direct patient care and/or program development and implementation related to patient care are eligible for the Distinguished Clinician Award. Faculty members who have received this award within the previous five years are ineligible.
Nominations
A full-time or part-time faculty member, Medical/Clinical Director or Division Chief may submit a nomination. A concise, < 2000-word narrative describing the outstanding clinical contributions made by the nominee should accompany the nomination. Additional letters (one page maximum per letter) are welcome. These documents should describe the nominee’s impact on the clinical care of patients and address one or more of the following attributes of the nominee: quality of patient care, commitment to team-oriented delivery of patient care, interdisciplinary relationships, participation in quality improvement project(s), collaboration with other health care professionals, dedication to the continuing education of health care colleagues through lectures and informal discussion of cases and program development and implementation related to patient care.
Submissions
Send electronic submissions to Nadine Kaslow, PhD, ABPP, Vice Chair for Faculty Development, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Submissions should include the nominating letter, name and contact information of the faculty member being nominated (Word or PDF) and additional letters of support if applicable. We will accept nominations through midnight EDT July 1, 2024.
Decisions
A committee comprised of the Vice Chair for Faculty Development, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the Assistant Vice Chairs for Faculty Development will select the award recipient via an email vote. The Chair of the Department will serve as an ex-officio member of the committee and will have input without a vote. Members of the committee will recuse themselves if they are nominated for a particular award. We will notify award winners by August 1, 2024.
