Description
The Distinguished Clinician Award recognizes a faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences who has demonstrated excellence in clinical care.
Eligibility
Part-time or full-time faculty at any rank within the Emory University Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences who spend the majority (>50%) of their professional effort engaged in direct patient care and/or program development and implementation related to patient care are eligible for the Distinguished Clinician Award. Faculty members who have received this award within the previous 5 years are ineligible.
Nominations
Nominees must be nominated by another full-time or part-time faculty member, Medical/Clinical Director, or Division Chief. A concise, < 2000-word narrative describing the outstanding clinical contributions made by the nominee should accompany the nomination. Additional letters (one page maximum per letter) are welcome. These documents should describe the nominee’s impact on the clinical care of patients, and address one or more of the following attributes of the nominee: outstanding quality of patient care, commitment to team-oriented delivery of patient care, excellence in cultivating rapport with interdisciplinary clinical staff, participation in quality improvement project(s), accessibility and commitment to collaboration with other health care professionals, dedication to the continuing education of health care colleagues through lectures and informal discussion of cases, and program development and implementation related to patient care.
Submissions
Submissions must be sent via e-mail to Nadine Kaslow, PhD, ABPP, Vice Chair for Faculty Development. Submissions should include the nominating letter and name and contact information of the faculty member being nominated (Word or PDF) and additional letters of support if applicable.
Decisions
Decisions will be made by a committee comprised of the Vice Chair for Faculty Development and the Assistant Vice Chairs for Faculty Development. The Chair of the Department will serve as an ex-officio member of the committee and will have input without a vote. The voting will be done via email. Members of the committee will recuse themselves if they are nominated for a particular award.
