Description
The Distinguished Adjunct Faculty Member Award recognizes an adjunct faculty member associated with the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences who has demonstrated excellence in supervision, teaching, mentoring and/or collaboration with trainees in activities related to service, scholarship and/or education and/or excellence with regard to their professional service and leadership as related to the department.
Eligibility
Adjunct faculty members at any rank are eligible for the Distinguished Adjunct Faculty Member Award if they devote at least 20 hours/year to (1) supervising, teaching, mentoring and/or collaborating with learners (residents, fellows, psychology trainees, medical students, graduate students, allied health professionals, undergraduates and/or psychoanalytic candidates) related to service (patient care, community engagement), scholarship and/or education; and/or (2) engaging in professional services and leadership related to a departmental or institutional committee; a program for the department; and/or a local, national or international level committee. Adjunct faculty members who have received this award within the previous five years are ineligible.
Nominations
Full-time or part-time faculty, adjunct faculty members, Medical/Clinical Director or Division Chief or a trainee/group of trainees may submit a nomination. A concise, < 2000-word narrative describing the outstanding contributions made by the nominee should accompany the nomination. Additional letters (one page maximum per letter) are welcome. These documents should describe the nominee’s impact on the trainee(s) in the department and/or the nominee’s involvement in professional service or leadership in the department, locally, nationally or internationally.
Submissions
Send electronic submissions to Nadine Kaslow, PhD, ABPP, Vice Chair for Faculty Development, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Submissions should include the nominating letter, name and contact information of the faculty member being nominated (Word or PDF) and additional letters of support if applicable. We will accept nominations through midnight EDT July 1, 2024.
Decisions
A committee comprised of the Vice Chair for Faculty Development, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and members of the Adjunct Faculty Workgroup will select the award recipient via an email vote. The Chair of the Department will serve as an ex-officio member of the committee and will have input without a vote. Members of the committee will recuse themselves if they are nominated for a particular award. We will notify award winners by August 1, 2024.
