Alexander Truong
Overview
Dr. Truong completed his undergraduate studies at Virginia Teach in 1991. Afterwards, he went on to obtain a Masters in Public Health at the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine with a focus on HIV and sexually transmitted infections. He stayed on to finish his medical education at the Tulane School of Medicine, before moving on to complete his residency training at Yale New Haven Hospital in internal medicine with a focus on primary care medicine. He completed a four year fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in pulmonary, critical care, and myositis. His research centered on long term outcomes in survivors of critical illness and developed two clinical trials in the use of neuromuscular electrostimulation in the prevention of ICU acquired weakness. He was recruited to Emory Midtown Hospital in 2011 and works as a clinician education with teaching responsibilities for the medical students, residents and fellows.
His current area of interest include long term outcomes in survivors of critical illness, respiratory failure secondary to neuromuscular weakness, and autoimmune mediate inflammatory lung disease.
