Gloria Yamen Sonnen-Atinge is a lawyer and an LLM (Master of Laws) student of University of Lagos, Nigeria with over 10 years’ experience as a human rights lawyer and advocate. For over a decade, Gloria has helped numerous indigent women in the Nigerian North-eastern states of Borno and Taraba to claim and defend their human rights. In 2020, she co-founded a non-profit organization, Rosa Development Initiative, currently promoting human rights in the context of HIV and other stigmatized conditions including Hepatitis B and C.
Building on her human rights work experience, Gloria has developed a keen interest in human rights research focused on women and health, especially sexual and reproductive health, including HIV/AIDS and is contributing to producing quality data for addressing the normative and gender issues undermining the HIV response and to ultimately enable women everywhere realize their rights to the highest attainable standard of health.
