Weitzmann and Umeizudike Receive R01 Grant
Neale Weitzmann, PhD, Professor of Medicine, EN-RTP Mentor, and Kehinde Umeizudike, BDS, MPH, Associate Professor of Periodontology, Former EN-RTP Trainee, have received an NIH R01 grant. Drs. Wetizmann and Umeizudike's grant is titled, "Intersection of Periodontitis with HIV-Antiretroviral Therapy-Induced Immune Reconstitution Bone Loss, on Alveolar Bone and Tooth Loss, in People Living with HIV". This study will explore the oral impacts of people living with HIV who are taking antiretroviral therapy. This study builds upon previous work that the HIV virus and it's treatment contribute to different measurements of bone loss over time.
EN-RTP Hosts 2024 Summer Workshop in Nigeria
EN-RTP hosts its annual Summer Workshop, welcoming Nigeria-based administration, mentors, and cohort 4 trainees for a series of presentations on various professional development topics research administation and management. Nigerian trainees of the Vanderbilt-Nigeria Building Research Capacity in HIV and Non-communicable Diseases were also in attendance.
