Hello! My name is Fehintola Anthonia Ige. I am a research scientist specialized in microbial genetics. I study viruses (HIV, Hepatitis B, C and D over the last decade and more recently SARS CoV-2), with the aim of finding news ways to resolve or better manage the disease they cause.
I work in the Nigeria Institute of Medical Research as a Research Fellow and I participate in a lot of collaborative research, grants and studies – one of which is the Emory-Nigeria Research Training Program (ENRTP). I am a trainee in the long-term category and my experience in ENRTP has been very beneficial. It has improved my understanding of key research concepts, particularly statistic. My research outputs are better this year as evidenced by being able to publish in higher impact journals.
Program Experience:
Having mentors and other co- trainees interact with me in research planning and trainings is a big advantage; I learn from these shared experiences and guidance.
Over all ENRTP is a brilliant and important concept ; it shows collaborating and mentorship is the future of research , it bridges the research gap between researchers in developing countries and developed countries. I highly recommend it!
