Anand Shah
Overview
Dr Shah has practiced cardiology since 2009, starting his career as an active duty physician with the United States Air Force. In this capacity, he served as the director of the busiest outpatient Air Force cardiology clinic and headed efforts at providing advanced heart failure care to the military and retiree population. After a highly decorated, 11 year career, Dr. (Major) Shah joined the Emory School of Medicine faculty in 2016 with board certification/eligibility in adult cardiology, heart failure and transplant cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology.
Dr Shahs clinical practice focuses on the care of patients with advanced heart rhythm conditions such as atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, defibrillator and cardiac resynchronization type pacemaker devices and SVT. The conditions frequently manifest with palpitations, shortness of breath and passing out episodes. He also cares for patients with advanced heart failure, and cardiac devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators. He is uniquely qualified to provide a comprehensive approach to the care of advanced heart failure patients who also have advanced heart rhythm issues which impact their well being and symptoms. Dr Shah performs cardiac ablation procedures, including atrial fibrillation and ventricular arrhythmia ablation, comprehensive cardiac device implantation and management, pacemaker lead extraction, cardiac catheterization/angiography, trans-esophageal and thoracic echocardiography, stress testing and noninvasive rhythm analysis and management.
Dr Shah maintains an active academic practice, with more than 10 publications in major cardiology journals over the past several years. His patients enjoy access to all major clinical cardiology trials offered at the Emory Heart and Vascular Center via the Emory University School of Medicine.
