I chose family medicine not only because of the diversity of the patient population and patient problems, but also because of the continuity that comes along with being a primary care provider. Forming meaningful relationships with my patients has always been important to me, and family medicine allows me to do that. I also love the variety of skills family practice allows you to use as well as the variety of procedures you can do. Additionally, I chose family medicine because it allows me many different directions in which I can take my career. The first thing that drew me to Emory Family Medicine was the diversity among the residents and faculty. I also liked the amount of elective time that Emory offered, as well as the different elective options. Having a program where I could get great sports medicine training was a priority for me, and Emory’s sports medicine fellowship and opportunities to get involved in sports medicine during residency training stood out. Finally, I chose Emory because of its location in a vibrant and diverse city that offers tons of entertainment.
