Department of Family and Preventive Medicine

Program Information

Residents, faculty, and staff serve the urban and suburban populations of metro-Atlanta. Each year, our program accepts 10 PGY-1/incoming residents. Our sponsoring hospital is Emory University Hospital Midtown.

Our primary training site is the Emory Family Medicine Clinic in Dunwoody, GA. Residents complete their continuity clinics, didactics, and procedure clinics at the Dunwoody clinic but also rotate out through the community and surrounding medical centers to achieve their training.

Culture

What sets our program apart is the culture. We foster personal, academic, and professional growth in all our residents by making time for bonding outside of regular duties. A few of our group activities include

  • Annual retreat
  • Regular wellness activities
  • Holiday parties
  • Trips to the performing arts or sporting events
  • Access to Atlanta’s top attractions

Many of our residents join us from different cities, states, and countries, so we make sure to introduce them to all that Atlanta has to offer while providing them a professional and personal support system.

The LaHouse Residency Fund

The LaHouse Residency Fund fund supports one three-year trainee in family medicine. Family medicine physicians are needed to ensure that all Georgians have affordable access to primary care that is patient-centered and focused on preventing disease.
