Biochemistry

The Biochemistry Department located in the Rollins Research Center, completed its 4th floor renovation in Summer 2022. The north wing renovation was completed summer 2021 and the south wing finished up in July 2022 remodeling all the Biochemistry laboratories on the 4th floor.

Cell Biology

Three researchers from the Department of Cell Biology received prestigious researcher awards in 2022: Dorothy Lerit, PhD, received the Günter Blobel Early Career Award; Jill Ward, PhD received the RR Bensley Early-Career Investigator Award; and Nisha Raj, PhD, received the NARSAD Junior Investigator Award.

Microbiology and Immunology

William Shafer, PhD, received the Emory School of Medicine Dean's Eminent Investigator Award. Dr. Shafer is Professor, Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Co-Director Emory Antibiotic Resistance Center, and Senior Research Career Scientist at the Atlanta VA.

Pharmacology and Chemical Biology

Pharmacology and Chemical Biology held its inaugural Town Hall meeting on June 23, 2022. Professor and Chair, Dr. Haian Fu, opened the meeting with a celebration and recognition of the faculty, staff, and students particularly in the past two years through COVID-19. The meeting included faculty and staff awards, lab highlights, and closing remarks by Dr. George Painter.

Congratulations for increasing grant submissions by 23% and grant expenditures by 32% for Sept - June FY22 compared to Sept - June FY21. Emory Pharmacology and Chemical Biology ranks #14 nationally for Pharmacology Departments.
