Application
Our division participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS), the AAMC's online application service, and positions are offered through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Pediatric Subspecialties match.
Consistent with national consensus decisions among Pediatric Critical Care Program Directors, we welcome ERAS Signaling from applicants – Signaling can only help an application; it will never hurt an application.

We welcome applications from well-qualified candidates who are completing an ABP-certified pediatric fellowship and wish to continue training by seeking additional board certification in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine via the ABP Dual Subspecialty pathway (https://www.abp.org/content/dual-subspecialty-certification-policy-development-training-proposals). These applicants are evaluated alongside traditional 3-year fellowship applicants.

Application Requirements
To apply for the program, you must submit:
An online application through ERAS
- A personal statement

- Why do you want to specialize in pediatric critical care?
- What past experiences have given you this motivation?
- What are your career plans and/or future goals?
- Letters of recommendation (minimum of three), including:
- A member of the Division of Pediatric Critical Care at your residency training institution or at an associated institution with whom you have worked.
- Other letters from faculty members, a research mentor (if applicable), or other professionals who know you well and can speak to the qualities that will make you a good fellow.
- Your residency program director/associate program director
- Your medical school transcript
- Copies of United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) scores or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination of the United States (COMLEX) scores. Emory GME requires USMLE Step 3 or equivalent.
Application timeline and selection process
Applicants must apply directly to the department. We participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) for the selection of PICU fellows.
- June 1: Applicants can begin working on their applications through ERAS.
- July 1: Program opens for applicants.
- July 15: Program begins to download applications.
- July 31: Deadline for completed applications, and applications submitted after this date will not be accepted.
- Early August: Invitations for interviews are sent out. Due to the large number of applications submitted, we are unable to interview all applicants.
- August to November: Interviews with selected applicants conducted. The committee will meet at the end of the interview process to review the applicants and prepare the rank list for NRMP.
- September: NRMP opens.
- November: The Fellowship Selection Committee holistically ranks applicants based on interviews, prior performance, letters of recommendation and academic promise.
- Early December: NRMP match results are posted.
