About the Committee
Emory University School of Medicine, The Emory Anesthesiologist Assistant Program along with many universities across the country have created DEI committees to prioritize creating inclusive academic environments, identifying and addressing systemic inequities, and to raise awareness to improve the overall experiences of underrepresented students, staff and faculty.
Our DEI Committee has worked together for several months to develop and strengthen actionable plans to address diversity and equity, through conversations, recruitment strategies and focusing on the classroom climate. We have also ensured that we have a clear path of communication that will support our purpose and move ideas into actions quickly. We have been transparent in our intentions and we align our efforts with other DEI committees, faculty members and university resources that support our students, and academic and clinical community members.
Committee members: Stephanie Dixon, Jerri Elder, Yulanda Greene, Dr. Katherine Monroe, William Bundy, Branden Ford Sasi Duggirala

Office of Multicultural Affairs*
*Emory University School of Medicine created the Office of Multicultural Medical Student Affairs in 1986 to increase minority representation in medicine and biomedical research. In 2019, the office changed its name to the Office of Multicultural Affairs to be more inclusive of all School of Medicine learners. The Office of Multicultural Affairs is an integral part of the School of Medicine's educational mission and its diversity and inclusion strategic vision. The office provides programs to support the development and matriculation of diverse learners, including medical students, health professions students, Graduate Medical Education trainees (residents and fellows), and K-12 students interested in health professions.
