Overview
My research focuses on repair and regeneration of intervertebral disc using an integrative approach of stem cell and growth factor. Our research approach involves areas of developmental biology, stem cell differentiation, disc homeostasis and disease. We explore in vitro and in vivo systems to answer complex questions related to disc degeneration and how to promote repair mechanism to prevent degenerative disc disease. Our research used an innovative approach of notochordal differentiation using several genetic and epigenetic approaches. We interrogate the disc cells (Annulus Fibrosus and Nucleus Pulposus) by using culture of stem cells, primary disc cells and transgenic mice models to explore in a wide of events during disc degeneration and repair.
