Joaquin was born and raised in Lima, Peru. He earned his medical degree from the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, where clinical and research experiences fueled his passion for Neurology. After completing his studies, he was awarded the Louise and Raymond Koenig Fellowship in Neurodegenerative Disorders and invested two years at the University of Cincinnati conducting clinical research in Movement Disorders. His scholarly interests revolve around neurological phenomenology, evidence-based medicine and data analysis, and the integration between electronic patient-reported outcomes and technology-based objective measures. Joaquin chose Emory for its diverse clinical settings, outstanding faculty and residents, and unparalleled research opportunities. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing the guitar, watching and playing soccer, and exploring Atlanta.
