Ericka was born in Queens, New York and grew up in Alpharetta, Georgia. She attended Georgia State University, majoring in Biological Sciences with a concentration in pre medicine. During her senior year at GSU, she took Neurobiology as an elective and became immediately interested. She continued to immerse herself with earning her Master's in Neuroscience at Tulane University. Excited to be moving back home, she then attended medical school at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. She chose Emory for her Neurology residency because of the exposure to the diverse pathology and clinical cases that present to Grady and Emory Hospital, the opportunity to train at the Grady comprehensive stroke center, amazing residents and friendly faculty she met during her interview, and extensive research opportunities provided to her at Emory SOM. Ericka continues to enjoy all aspects of Neurology and is looking forward to narrowing to a specialty during her residency training. In her free time, she enjoys trying new restaurants, concerts, spending time with her husband and family, and traveling.
