Jeanie Park
Overview
Biography
Dr. Park completed her undergraduate studies at Rice University and received her MD from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She then completed her internal medicine residency at Washington University in St. Louis, MO during which she served as a Clinical Scientist Training and Research (C-STAR) fellow. She completed her clinical Nephrology fellowship at the University of Southern California and postdoctoral research training at both USC and UCLA and also received an MS of Biomedical and Clinical Investigations/translational research track from the Keck School of Medicine at USC. She joined the Renal faculty at Emory University in November 2008. She is board-certified in Nephrology and is an American Society of Hypertension (ASH) Clinical Specialist in Hypertension.
Research
Dr. Parks human physiology research is focused on the regulation of the sympathetic nervous system in patients at high cardiovascular risk, particularly those with chronic kidney disease, hypertension, smokers, and stress disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The lab is funded by NIH, VA Merit, DoD and foundation awards.
Clinical
Dr. Park cares for patients weekly at the Atlanta VA Medical Center. Her clinical interests include management of chronic kidney disease (CKD), cardiovascular risk in CKD, resistant and difficult to control hypertension. She also attends on the Renal Consultation service at the Atlanta VAMC.
