
Dr. Babatunde Abdulmajeed Akodu completed his MBBS at the University of Ibadan in 2000 and Family Medicine residency training and MSc in Public Health at Lagos University Teaching Hospital Idi-Araba and University of Lagos in 2009 and 2014 respectively. He completed Certification Provider Course in Emergency Medicine at Stanford University USA in 2014 and also possess ATLS, ACLS AND PALS Certifications from United States of America. He was the Convener of International Emergency Care course at College of Medicine University of Lagos / Lagos University Teaching Hospital in 2020 (Resource Persons from USA). He Participated in the 1st International Geriatrics Conference in University of Benin Teaching Hospital in 2020. He completed a year course in Education in Palliative and End-Of-Life Care organized by Northwestern University in USA in 2020/21. He completed 3-months online-course in Hospice and Palliative Care organized by Hospice Africa Uganda and had a one-month Practical and Clinical Physical Placement in Uganda.
He is a senior lecturer in the Family medicine unit, Department of Community Health and Primary Care, College of Medicine, University of Lagos and Consultant Family Physician, Department of Family Medicine, Lagos University, Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, Lagos. His academic and research experience over years has been multifaceted covering most aspects of Care of the Older Persons, Palliative care, Emergency and Cardiovascular Medicine and Primary Care. He has presented papers at conferences both locally and internationally. He has authored over 50 published articles in peered-reviewed journals.
He has ample experience mentoring younger Scientists and Clinicians and he has supervised over 60 undergraduates, 70 Master of Science students in Public Health and 30 resident doctors to successful completion. He has been an examiner of the West African College Physicians in Family Medicine since 2012 till date and served as external examiner in Ghana and Sierra-Leone. Dr Babatunde Akodu was head of Triage, Accident and Emergency LUTH for 7 years and Immediate past head, Family Medicine Department, LUTH, a position he held for 8 years.
