Dr. Sonnen Atinge holds the degree of Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Maiduguri, Nigeria; Master of Public Health; and Master of Science in Public Health (Epidemiology) from the University of Lagos. He received the Hunponu O. Wusu and Caroline Olubukunola Prizes for the best student in Master of Sciences in Public Health at the 60th Anniversary (53rd) Convocation of the University of Lagos, 2023. He is also a holder of the Part 1 Fellowship of the Faculty of Public Health and Community Medicine of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria where he won the Dr. Abimbola Silva Prize award for the best candidate and highest score in Maternal and Child Health paper. Dr. Atinge currently works as a Principal Medical Officer/Senior Registrar with the Taraba State Health Services Management Board and as a Technical Advisor-Scientific Writing with the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria. His main research interest is in reproductive health and infectious disease epidemiology, especially HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis.
