I am a 2005 medical graduate of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos (CMUL) after which I had my residency training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital between 2008 and 2013. I currently work as a Senior Lecturer at CMUL, and my research is focused on the understanding of the clinical and epidemiologic correlates of genital tract diseases of women including cancer and infections such as HIV and human papillomavirus infection (HPV). My ongoing research for the Emory-Nigeria Research Training Program is titled, “Predictors of incidence and persistence of genital high-risk human papillomavirus infection in HIV-infected women in Lagos”. Since the start of the Program, I have worked closely with the leadership and my mentors both in Nigeria and the US to acquire critical training and practical research experience required to support my ongoing research and to conduct future epidemiologic research involving women’s genital tract cancer and infectious diseases that will impact my overall research output and career progression as a physician-scientist.
