Erin Kistenberg grew up right here in Atlanta and graduated with the highest honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in biology and a double minor in psychology and physiology. As an undergraduate, she had the opportunity to study abroad at Oxford University, where she especially enjoyed her courses in ethics and medicine in literature. She also completed the Johns Hopkins Genetic Counselor Assistant Training Program. She conducted research projects that included exploring genetic risks associated with post-transplantation development of Graft vs. Host Disease, and completed her research thesis on identifying factors that helped increase students' sense of belonging in the classroom. She was a member of the Yellow Jacket marching band, sang with the Georgia Tech jazz ensembles, and danced with a company at a local ballet school.
Erin combined her love for genetics and teaching by serving as an undergraduate teaching assistant for her Honors Genetics class and has been working in her community as an academic tutor for the past eight years. Her favorite subjects to teach are science — especially genetics — and math. In her free time, Erin enjoys reading, knitting and crocheting, dancing, aerial arts and yoga, singing, and exploring the city she calls home.
