Admissions Update
The application process for the Fall 2027 cohort will open on Tuesday, September 1. Applications will be due by 5 p.m. EST on Thursday December 10, 2026.
Applicants will now have the option to submit Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores as part of their application. Submission of GRE scores is not required and will be considered as one component within a holistic review process.
For some applicants, submitting GRE scores may provide additional context to strengthen their application. This may be particularly helpful for individuals who:
- Feel their academic record (e.g., GPA and/or specific prerequisite coursework) does not fully reflect their academic abilities
- Have limited quantitative or science coursework and wish to demonstrate readiness through standardized testing
- Would like to provide an additional data point to complement other aspects of their application
While we do not have a minimum or cutoff score, historic GRE performance data is available in the GC Admissions Match Statistics published by National Matching Services.
We encourage applicants to carefully consider whether submitting GRE scores will meaningfully enhance their application. GRE scores older than five years will not be considered. Applicants who choose to submit GRE scores should use the GRE Designated Institution (DI) Code 6348. A copy of the GRE score report should also be uploaded to the application portal.
To be considered as part of the application review process, GRE scores must be received by the application deadline of December 10, 2026.

The Emory University School of Medicine Genetic Counseling Training Program was established in 2011. Graduates earn a Master of Medical Sciences in Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling, and are qualified to sit for the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) certification examination. Our degree program meets the educational requirements for all states that require licensure.
The Emory University Genetic Counseling Training Program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC), located at 4400 College Blvd., Ste. 220, Overland Park, KS 66211, 913-222-8668.
