Chloe Meier grew up in Northbrook, Illinois. She graduated from Miami University in 2021 with a double major in Public Health and Biology and a minor in Computer Science. Chloe first became excited about the field of genetic counseling during an internship at the Neamen Center for Personalized Medicine in Evanston, Illinois, where she assisted with data analysis projects to evaluate the outcomes of genetic testing on cancer patients.
During undergrad, she was co-founder and co-president of the International Women’s Health Club, a fundraising and educational organization focused on spreading awareness of women’s health issues such as maternal mortality, sex trafficking, and access to education. At Miami, she also volunteered as a counselor for Camp Kesem, a free summer camp for children who have been impacted by a parent’s cancer. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, she utilized her scientific communication skills and public health knowledge to work as a COVID-19 contact tracer for the Butler County Health Department in Ohio. Lastly, she worked as the social media manager for Grey Genetics, a telehealth genetic counseling company. She used this opportunity to spread awareness of genetic counseling, genetic conditions, and current hot topics in the field through educational social media posts.
After graduating, Chloe worked as a genetic counseling assistant in Chicago. Through this position, she interacted directly with patients and genetic counselors, while also shadowing many interesting cancer, prenatal, and preconception genetic counseling appointments. Outside of work, she volunteered with the NBIA Disorders Association, creating informational resources for patients recently diagnosed with rare diseases. She also volunteered with Kids Enjoy Exercise Now, empowering children with disabilities through virtual programs.
Since moving to Atlanta, Chloe has been enjoying the warm weather, delicious restaurants, and beautiful walking paths! She is so excited to be a member of the class of 2024!.
