Niharika Jadeja grew up in Bangalore, India. She moved to the US for her undergraduate degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Integrative Biology, which she pursued at the University of California, Berkeley. Throughout her time at Berkeley, Niharika was an active participant in a number of research and science communication projects, and continued to contribute to a Public Health Genetics research lab after graduating. She moved back home after graduating in 2021 and started working as a research analyst for a genetic testing company, while continuing to contribute to research projects at Berkeley. She also started volunteering for the Huntington Disease Society of India (HDSI), which is when she realized just how inaccessible genetic counseling was, especially in her country. Her experience with this organization cemented her desire to become a genetic counselor and improve the accessibility of genetic services to people from a variety of backgrounds, and to help provide care and advocate for people from underserved populations.
In her free time, Niharika loves to crochet, read, and spend time outdoors. She is excited to explore Atlanta and pursue her dreams of becoming a genetic counselor!
