Paige Black graduated from UCLA in June 2019 with a B.A. in Human Biology and Society (with an emphasis in Bioethics and Public Science Policy) and a minor in Global Health. Through most of college, Paige was planning to attend law school and pursue a career in biotech and genetic privacy law. However, after interning at Genetic Alliance and the Undiagnosed Disease Networks, Paige decided to pursue Genetic Counseling because of the desire to see and research how these new genetic findings, testing technologies, and associated laws were being used by individuals in their daily lives.
After graduation, Paige worked for two years as a Clinical Research Coordinator in the UCSF Cancer Immunotherapy Program, where she helped run large multi-center clinical trials to evaluate new immunotherapies. While applying to Genetic Counseling programs in Fall of 2021, Paige transitioned into a Clinical Research Coordinator role at Invitae where she helped design and implement studies regarding the clinical utility of genetic testing.
In her free time Paige can be found drinking lots of coffee, walking or running on the Belt Line, reading sci fi and fantasy novels, or visiting family in California. She loves talking about genetic counseling, school, applications, and anything else. Please feel free to reach out via email if you have any questions!
