Welcome to Our New Division Director
The first non-physician to lead an academic division of palliative medicine in the United States, Dio Kavalieratos, PhD also serves as the Director of Research for the Emory Palliative Care Center. Since joining Emory in 2020, he has grown the Division’s research faculty from zero to seven funded investigators, launched the Emory Serious Illness Innovation Incubator to cultivate clinician–researcher partnerships, and secured multiple grants and gifts of more than >$1M to expand Emory’s capacity as a national hub for palliative care science and training. What is Palliative Care?
Palliative care is the holistic support that we give to patients, families, and caregivers who are experiencing serious, life-threatening illness. We focus on living every day to its fullest no matter the circumstances.
About Us
