Overview
Family Medicine physicians are expected to be proficient in several disciplines, including musculoskeletal and sports medicine. Emory Family Medicine Residency Program Sports Medicine Track aims to provide increased education, training, and exposure to sports medicine. Residents who are interested in a career in sports medicine, academics, or full-spectrum family medicine are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility
- Applications are open to PGY-1 in good standing who will be a PGY-2 level by the program track start date.
- A maximum of two residents per year will be selected for the residency track.
- Application will open in the Spring with an expected start date of July 1.
- Rising PGY-3 are encouraged to contact the Family Medicine Program Director to discuss options for joining the Sports Medicine Track.
Track Requirements
- Residents will complete one elective month during their PGY2 year and two elective months during their PGY3 on a sports medicine rotation.
- Scholars will have one weekly sports medicine continuity clinic with sports medicine faculty at the Dunwoody Sports Medicine Clinic during the non-sports medicine elective months in the PGY2 and PGY3 years.
- Scholars will provide sideline coverage of community sports teams. This will include college and high school exposure.
- Scholars will complete their required residency scholarly project with a scope in sports medicine. Scholars will discuss their scholarly projects with the continuity sports medicine faculty.
