Department of Family and Preventive Medicine
Dr. Brejon Childers

I chose Emory Family Medicine because they offered the best of both worlds: a strong academic program with a plethora of resources that simultaneously has a strong commitment to community outreach. As someone who grew up in a low-income community, I saw firsthand the deficits that occur in a community without a primary care anchor. I intend to work at a federally qualified health center dedicated to underserved patients post residency; I knew that Emory Family Medicine would provide me with the robust training required to treat such a complicated patient base. Emory’s commitment to diversity in both its residents and patients was incredibly important to me and a major factor that drew me to the program. This coupled with its vast opportunities not offered by many other family medicine programs made it a program that was impossible to resist.
