Vision
The Emory Department of Family and Preventive Medicine strives to be a national leader in consequential translational and population-based research, patient-centered clinical care, and health professional education.
Mission
The Emory Department of Family and Preventive Medicine is committed to the four-part academic health system mission. We are dedicated to:
- Providing high quality patient, family-centered, and team-based care in community settings as a mechanism to improve the health of our patient population. We accomplish this by achieving improved outcomes, including patient and provider satisfaction, and by providing efficient, affordable, and effective care.
- Preparing health professional learners for excellence in clinical practice through innovative, creative teaching methods in the classroom, at the bedside, and in the research setting. Our learners are equipped to become inclusive, outstanding, creative leaders and clinicians in clinical practice, medical education, and research.
- Being inquisitive, producing meaningful research, and leading in healthcare delivery and research. We cultivate a collaborative, productive culture and infrastructure that facilitates scholarship, professional development, and department recognition nationally. Our program grows, inspires, and promotes excellence and collaborative opportunities for investigators and scholars.
- Engaging in partnership with the community to provide public service and advocacy. We utilize the expertise and interests of our faculty, staff, and trainees, as well as inter-professional, inter-disciplinary, and community partnerships to improve community health. Our providers serve the community in a culturally sensitive manner that evidences partnership and cultural humility. We intentionally address health inequities through population and community-based inquiry in clinical care and healthcare delivery.
