Xu Liu, PhD
Assistant Professor
Xu started as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at Emory University School of Medicine in April 2022. He received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Iowa in 2014, integrating X-ray crystallography and solution NMR to study the role of conformational dynamics in protein-ligand interactions. Upon completing his Ph.D., Xu became a postdoctoral scholar, supported by an American Heart Association fellowship, at the School of Medicine Emory University. There, he studied the structure and inhibition of a histone demethylase family and the intricate structure-dynamics-function relationship of the glucocorticoid receptor interacting with various drugs. He was promoted to an Instructor in the Department of Biochemistry in June 2020 starting to develop his independent research programs centered on the mineralocorticoid receptor.
