Xin Hu, PhD, MSPH

Dr. Hu is a health services and policy researcher whose work focuses on cancer outcomes, health care access, and quality. She specializes in applying causal inference methods to administrative health records, national survey data, and other secondary data sources to evaluate national health policies and conduct population-based health services research.
She earned her PhD and Master’s degrees in Health Services Research and Health Policy from Emory University, and her Bachelor’s degree in Public Service Administration from Fudan University. Before pursuing her PhD, she conducted research at the Yale Cancer Outcomes, Public Policy and Effectiveness Research (COPPER) Center and the Yale Center for Analytical Sciences.
In 2024, she joined the Department of Radiation Oncology as an Assistant Professor. She also serves as a Visiting Scientist at the American Cancer Society.
Patricia Santos, MD, MS
Assistant Professor

Dr. Santos is a radiation oncologist specializing in the treatment of thoracic, genitourinary, and central nervous system cancers. Her research focuses on understanding structural barriers to care in underserved populations. Through data disaggregation, implementation science, and policy analysis, her pioneering work seeks to identify strategies that meaningfully address inequities experienced by patients and peers.
She earned her MD from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, where she was recognized as a finalist for the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans and inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. She completed her residency at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, serving as Chief Resident in her final year. She is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. In 2023, she received the Women Leaders in Oncology Who Conquer Cancer Young Investigator Award.
In 2024, she joined the Department of Radiation Oncology as an Assistant Professor.
