Medical Student Visiting Rotations

ATTENTION:

2021 Med Student Rotations

Visiting Student applications will open on the VSAS portal sometime after April 15th but possibly as late as the first of May. The SOM Deans are still finalizing details.

Please note that there will be additional requirements including COVID tests before coming on campus.  As you’ve likely seen from the AAMC, students will only be allowed one away rotation total, therefore students will not be permitted to take multiple rotations at various schools. We are still waiting on clarity from the AAMC on other guidelines. Thank you for your patience in this process.

If you have additional questions, reach out to Michele Rutherford: michele.rutherford@emory.edu

Emory’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery offers four-week visiting clinical rotations throughout the academic year. All applicants should provide proof of passing the USMLE Step I exam and have completed at least one Orthopaedic rotation at their home institution.

Applications are requested a minimum of two months prior to the desired month of the rotation. Rotations are filled on a first come, first serve basis with eight being the maximum number of rotators for each four-week period.

The calendar of rotations will follow that of Emory Medical School but other schedules may be discussed on a case-by-case basis. Each rotator will spend two weeks on the Orthopaedic Trauma Service at Grady Memorial Hospital, followed by two weeks with another Emory faculty member at Emory University Orthopaedics & Spine Hospital, Egleston Children’s Hospital, Emory University Hospital Midtown, or the Emory Orthopaedics & Spine Center. Requests will be honored when possible.
