AIM Center Faculty Mission and Goals
The AIM Center's dedicated funding enables support of faculty members’ participation in professional development activities and in teaching and precepting learners (e.g., medical students, residents, and other healthcare profession trainees). The AIM Center provides its faculty members with dedicated time and resources to engage in applied research and to excel at teaching and precepting.
The AIM Center emphasizes and provides support for collaboration and team-based projects.
AIM Center activities are also tailored to facilitate substantive faculty progress in the academic promotion process.
Faculty Titles Within the AIM Center
Supported Faculty
This is the entry-level faculty position and title within the AIM Center. Appointment to this position provides for protected time for academic activities and access to all appropriate AIM Center resources.
Rollins Distinguished Clinician
This position is a promotion within the AIM Center based on level of involvement, time at Emory, and academic progress and success. Appointment to this position will affect compensation of AIM-supported non-clinical effort. Nomination is by the Director of the AIM Center, but requires action by the Chairman, Dean, and Provost as per Emory University School of Medicine Process for Distinguished Appointments.
Rollins Professor
This is the highest position and title within the AIM Center and a distinctly important University position as well. It is an exclusive position available to some, but not all, based upon success, time at Emory, and merit, but limited by availability. It requires a rank of Associate Professor or Professor.

School of Medicine and AIM Center Basic Requirements
In accordance with SOM requirements, the AIM Center expects candidates for appointment or promotion to show academic excellence and to participate in all three missions: scholarship, teaching, and professional service: All faculty members must have received their terminal professional degree, and those who provide clinical services must obtain and maintain medical staff privileges and managed care credentialing to perform clinical duties at the healthcare facilities in which they are assigned to practice.AIM Center Supported Faculty: Requirements for Eligibility
- Current Board certification in Internal Medicine
- Emory School of Medicine Faculty in good standing.
- Primary practice location in The Emory Clinic -- GIM Clinics, including the Seavey Clinic, 1525 Clifton, and Midtown practices or possibly others under special situations or as the program expands.
- All Seavey Clinic faculty are automatically considered Supported Faculty.
- Appropriate (but not mandatory) to participate and excel in any or all:
- The Emory Clinic Internal Medicine Practice
- Education of Medical Students, Residents, and other learners
- Quality improvement efforts and practice innovation
- Research and scholarship
- Appropriate for ultimate designation as a Rollins Distinguished Clinician and/or Rollins Professor
- Committed to
- Meticulous, comprehensive care of patient
- Engagement in all four academic missions (service, teaching, research, and scholarship) and success and/or progress in the promotions process
- Impeccable quality of care and customer service
- Adherence to Clinic, School, University policies and procedures
- Agreement with and support of the Mission and Goals of the Seavey Clinic and AIM Center
- Long term commitment to the practice and programs within the Center
- Ongoing education of learners, staff, and colleagues
- Partnership with the patient and family unit

AIM Center Rollins Distinguished Clinician: Requirements for Eligibility
- Member of the AIM Center/Seavey Clinic Faculty, achieving and maintaining all criteria as such
- Emory Faculty for a minimum of 3 years (significant experience outside of Emory or Seavey Clinic can be considered, at the discretion of the AIM Center and/or Seavey Clinic Director and DGIM Director
- Strong commitment to principles and goals of AIM Center/Seavey Clinic with enthusiastic, ongoing commitment to participation in its operations and growth
- Significant involvement with leadership of AIM Center/Seavey Clinic mission, programs, and goals
- Strong commitment to the University's academic mission and personal professional development
- Continued excellence in clinical service, as well as involvement in research, education, and service, including administration and committee involvement
- Additionally, dedication to
- Life-long learning and career development including academic advancement
- Education of medical students, residents, clinic and community physicians and other providers
- Exemplary communication skills with patients, staff, and consultants\
- Excellent team support and participation
AIM Center Rollins Professor: Requirements for Eligibility
- Meeting all criteria as Rollins Distinguished Clinician and maintaining all criteria as such
- Emory and/or Seavey Clinic Faculty for a minimum of 5 years (extensive experience outside of Emory or Seavey Clinic can be considered, at the discretion of the AIM Center/Seavey Clinic Director and DGIM Director
- Continually demonstrating:
- Exceptional commitment to personal and professional development that is active and continuous, including teaching, scholarship, and service as well as life-long learning and growth
- Active and remarkably high level of participation in leadership of Seavey Clinic, AIM Center, Emory Clinic, and Emory School of Medicine programs and goals
- Exceptional personal integrity and professionalist
- Exceptional medical care and patient satisfaction
- Exceptional teamwork
- Preferentially a member of the AIM Center/Seavey Clinic faculty, achieving and maintaining all criteria as such. However, consideration will be given to active General Internal Medicine Faculty participating in and leading essential components of AIM Center/Seavey Clinic goals, such as research, education, and service if the role is essential to DGIM and leadership.
