Training Components
Clinical commitment
Fellows are expected to work approximately 8 shifts per month as an emergency medicine attending physician in the Emory Healthcare or Grady Memorial Hospital Emergency Departments.
Administration
The Administrative Fellow functions in the role of an assistant medical director under the direct guidance of fellowship and ED medical directors. This is to provide mentored career development in Emergency Medicine Administration through training in clinical operations, quality improvement, leadership, management, strategic planning, and interdisciplinary problem-solving.
Education
The fellows will participate in national training courses and a dedicated Administrative Fellowship curriculum. Fellows pursuing two-year programs will typically pursue a Masters degree (masters of business administration, public health, or hospital administration).
Research
To develop expertise and better understand the research process, the fellow will work with faculty to design and carry out a research project relevant to EM administration. The two-year fellowship program will also require the production of a peer-reviewed quality research project in the fellow’s selected area of interest and the opportunity for completion of a Masters level program.
