Welcome to the Ghalei Lab
Ghalei lab studies how an abundant class of small non-coding RNAs, which are primarily localized in the nucleolus, regulate gene expression by affecting ribosome production and translational control. The lab employs RNA and protein biochemistry, structural biology (X-ray crystallography and cryo-EM), mass spectrometry, cell biology, yeast genetics and next-generation based sequencing approaches to address the key question of how dysregulation of small nucleolar RNA (snoRNA) levels or impairment of their assembly into functional ribonucleoprotein complexes impacts gene expression and contributes to human disease.
