Prior to submitting your online application, you must
- identify a research mentor that you have discussed possible research opportunities with virtually or in person,
- the research mentor has agreed to fund your stipend and fringe during the initial year of your fellowship, and
- the research provides a letter stating they will fund the initial year of your fellowship (see below).
The FIRST program will then fund years 2-4. Failure to identify a potential research mentor prior to your application submission will result in your application not being reviewed.
