Stipend

Salary: FIRST fellows will be supported for a maximum of three years, beginning in Year 2. The annual amount of each stipend is based on the recommended stipend levels for individuals receiving support through institutional or individual National Research Service Awards (NRSA). FIRST follows the current NIH postdoctoral career stipend levels.

Travel and Institutional Allotment: Beginning in Year 2, FIRST fellows have $2,000 (fiscal grant year is September 1 – August 31) to spend on a laptop, tablet, books, teaching material, and travel/registration cost to attend up to 2 scientific meetings. As a general policy, second or third year Fellows should present a poster or talk at each meeting they attend. First year fellows are encouraged to attend appropriate scientific meetings for professional development and may also submit abstracts for posters or presentations.
